The role

This role as Trainer is to respond to the communication needs of Ukrainian refugees in Poland. Translators without Borders has a fully developed two day interpreter-training course ready to deliver, and is seeking a trainer who can lead the delivery. The training will be held in Polish and aimed at non-professional volunteer interpreters who are supporting in the response. Each training event will include a full day of preparation, two days of delivery  plus a day dedicated to post-course evaluation and write up. 

Through this recruitment we aim to create a pool of candidates to draw upon for the coming year. 

Role and duties

The successful candidate will lead the interpreter training event, presenting the pre-developed content, facilitate the pre-developed group activities, and manage questions and discussion. Anticipated tasks include but are not limited to:


  • Gathering necessary training materials (pens, paper etc)
  • Viewing the training space to prepare for breakout sessions
  • Printing and preparing handouts / flipcharts (content already developed)
  • Sending out and analyzing pre-training surveys (already developed)

Course delivery

  • Using the speakers notes to deliver the presentation elements of the course
  • Facilitating breakout sessions (already designed)
  • Manage the time-keeping
  • Manage questions and discussion to ensure a respectful and informed discussion. This could involve challenging any inappropriate stereotypes / behaviors
  • Distribute post-course evaluation questionnaires

Post course 

  • Return resources (e.g. resources on loan)
  • Review and collate the responses from the post-course evaluation feedback
  • Write a short training report including learning points for future delivery


The right candidate is an energetic team player who agrees with CLEAR Global’s basic beliefs and values and who has excellent presentation and communication skills in Polish. 

Essential skills and competences

  • Minimum 2 years Interpretation experience, ideally professionally and ideally in the context of support to vulnerable people / interpreting on sensitive topics
  • Experience of translation (desirable)
  • Experience of training or public speaking
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail
  • Capacity to work independently to achieve agreed targets
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and spoken Polish
  • Functional written and spoken English
  • Excellent written and spoken Ukrainian a definite plus

Desirable skills and competences

  • Previous experience in non-profit organizations, particularly in development and/or humanitarian action

Job requirements

The successful candidate will need to be living in Poland and able to travel within Poland for work.
